Winter's Beauty on my Home

Hello, Welcome to Villa Sub Rosa. This site is a personal site. A place to share pictures with friends and family, publish my writing, and just share entertaining things with people. When I say I'm publishing my writing, I mean that seriously. I have a paypal button on the essay index page. I am hoping that people who appreciate my writing will make a donation to encourage me to write more. Do enjoy my site and take your time. New stuff is added randomly so check back now and then or keep in touch with me and ask.
Thanks for your patience, I hope you like the site! I put a Bravenet guestbook in the blog if you want to comment.

January 2008: Hey!!! We got a smart car! Yep. Finally replaced the old VW. I loved the VW and it was running fine, but lets face it, a new car is a seductive thing. One that's even smaller really tickled my fancy. This one's a 2006 passion, a diesel. It gets crazy mileage on cheap fuel and eventually when biofuel is available I'll be able to convert to vegetable oil! My car was a dealer demo, so it's rated as new and being ecosmart, even gets the maximum rebate of $2,000 which help us pay for our taxes, heh. Everyone wanted a pic, I took this one:

At the time of this writing, it's terribly cold out, too cold to mess around taking pictures, posing, opening this and photographing that. So I'll make up a complete setup for this car later, but for now, you can go to www.thesmart.ca and pour over the options you could get in your passion for two. Mine hasn't got all the options but it has some nice ones like heated outside mirrors and seats, air conditioning, and an aux input for the stereo for my mp3 player. I also have the panorama window in the roof. We can go watch the aurora at night without freezing or being chewed by mosquitos! For the summer sun there's a sliding shade and shade tinting which, combined, should make it tolerable. If not, there's always tinfoil!

October 2007:More puzzles added to puzzle page!

September 2007: The apple tree didn't make edible apples. Sadly, the apples came out tiny and sour. I do mean tiny, like necklace beads! I figure she bloomed for bloom sake and when she's big enough to feel strong and able to provide and carry large apples, maybe then we'll get to eat them. Summer alternated between fiery heat waves and miserable wet. I'll miss it. I've already put up the fountains and tied away the mosquito net on the gazebo and put away other things from out there so things are ready in case of snow. I don't expect it to snow too soon but around here you don't get much chance to procrastinate.
We got another parrot last week. His name is Sam, he's a darling fellow with many amusing vocalizations in his reperetoire. I'll try and get a gallery page going for him. Sam is a 12 yr old Timneh African Grey parrot who's in what is at least his fourth home counting the pet shop where the last family bought him and whatever was before then. There's no sign he has ever been mistreated but he wasn't thriving in the last family. We suspect it was a lack of rest. A young family is an awfully busy place for a nervous creature like african grey parrots. There's a youtube video taken a day or two after his arrival. I hope to capture some of his hilarious noises on video too one day.
Youtube is still going, I add videos now and then.
I'm on facebook now but I really don't know how to use it. It's a social networking thing but I can't figure out how it works to bring people closer. Presumably it makes sense to NTs but to me it just seems like information overload. I'm still looking around. There are groups of interest you can join and that would help me find things to discuss, but as usual it would also mean relationships with people I only see online. I was hoping it would help me figure out how to connect locally but that dance is still too complicated for me. I'll tell you privately what the facebook name is, if you are a meatspace friend already.
Yes, I'm still blogging, though not on any kind of a daily basis. The RSS podcast has died. Cute idea, way too much work. I don't feel like removing the stuff that's there so it'll be there for a while yet. Honestly, how could anyone keep up with blog, video blogging, 3d worlds, a website, a new marriage, tons of pets, plus working sometimes 14 hour days for up to 10 days at a stretch? Heh.
We continue to prosper financially. Not to the degree that we should, but I feel optimistic we'll get that worked out. We just aren't managing our income and we should be. I am speaking with a financial consultant this week to see if we can find a strategy for this. One thing is sure, we'll have to learn to say no to ourselves.
We are working with a draughting company to put together blueprints of an addition for our house. Unfortunately we can't get financing to actually do the work right now with the mortgage crashes in the states and our lousy money management, but it's still worth going ahead with plans. We can use them later anyway and use them now for budget estimates and the like.
Ok, so if you want more, go read my blog.

About my name, anarkissed. Read it aloud and you'll notice the sound similarity to Anarchist. Yes, I am an anarchist. No, I don't believe in abolition of the system nor bombs and chaos. My fave statement is: “Anarchy requires not a change of system but of attitude.” I'm really enjoying this essay on Anarchy 101 and I highly suggest you read it if you want to know more about anarchy.
Ya know what really bugs me about my name? It's everywhere and it's not me anymore. When I made it up, there wasn't another one anywhere. I could always get it as my login name. Now I have to modify the spelling, add numbers, other nonsense, and it frustrates me. Buncha damn copycats. I understand that it's a cool name but go make up your own damn name! It's MINE. You're taking MY login accounts!
I oughtta replace it. I might. I've thought about it, but then what for? If I come up with something suitably clever it'll happen all over again. Maybe I should just call myself an ordinary name like JaneDoe and get it over with. Or Roberta56035... LOL. There's just too damn many humans on the planet. Quit breeding already wouldja?
